Room 411 - Biology Lab

2012

As we stared at our schedules the first day of freshman year this classroom seemed the same as the rest, but by the end of the semester classroom 411 held a special place in our hearts. From the first lab where we argued over microscopic views of corn kernels to the last day of lab where we handed in our final exams, together, stapled with 20 dollar bills to bribe our professor for a passing grade. Room 411 turned two strangers into friends. Frankie might tell you it was love at first sight. Alex would probably say something different. But, neither of them could deny the connection they felt as they shared conversations and the same sick sense of humor. Classroom 411 is where it all started. Where we shared our first words. Where we shared our first laughs. Where we shared inside jokes and eventually love letters. Where we walked in on our first day as strangers and walked out on our last day, hand in hand, with talks of a future together.

Room 514 - Hotel Bethlehem

2019

Weekend getaways are something we do often so when Frankie suggested a weekend in Bethlehem, I didn't think twice. As we arrived in Bethlehem, a town that means so much to us both, I was excited for the weekend ahead. We have fun everywhere we go so I knew this weekend would be no different. What I didn't know, was just how life changing this weekend would be. As we dropped our bags off in a giant suite I questioned why Frankie would book such a large room but, of course, he had all the right answers to ease my mind. Our first night there was great, but Frankie seemed....off. On Saturday, October 12th, Frankie suggested a room service breakfast and I was so excited because I've never had room service before. The issue was, Frankie still seemed as weird as the night before. I was worried that he had caught the cold I was currently fighting, but didn't want to push the subject. It all made sense later that day. As we prepared for the day ahead, a familiar song played on the hotel stereo; it was the song we said we would dance to at our wedding one day. Frankie asked me to dance, which wasn't out of the ordinary for us, and we slow danced through the song. While we held each other close Frankie reminisced about the early memories of our relationship. He shared his thoughts on how it all began and where he saw it going. In that moment, he dropped to one knee and asked the question I'd been waiting for for what seemed like forever. The first word out of my mouth was "NO!" as I fell to the ground, and Frankie went white. I was in shock and shouting no was purely out of excitement because I couldn't believe this moment had finally arrived. I realized my reaction was not ideal and quickly shouted yes! Frankie seemed relieved and slipped the ring on my finger. We spent the rest of the day celebrating with strangers, in and out of bars, sharing our story with anyone who would listen. Room 514, a place that held no meaning to me before that day, suddenly became part of our story.
