In the early days of COVID, right before the world seemed to pause, fate quietly stepped in. At a small house gathering on a Saturday night, two people who had no idea their lives were about to change happened to end up in the same room. Isaac wasn’t even planning on being there long. Truthfully, he had only stopped by because someone owed him money. Marquiea, on the other hand, was simply enjoying a casual evening at her cousin’s house. It was a Saturday night… and why not? Among the laughter and conversations around the room, Isaac sat quietly on the couch. That’s when their paths crossed. He struck up a conversation with her, and as anyone who knows Marquiea can guess, she happily talked right back—she’s always been a bit of a social butterfly. Their conversation wasn’t anything deep or life-changing at the time—just light, easy small talk. But sometimes the simplest conversations are the ones that begin something special. And although she may not have said it out loud then, Marquiea definitely thought he was cute. The next day, curiosity lingered. Marquiea called her cousin and asked about the quiet guy from the night before. She told him to pass along her number—just in case Isaac wanted to call. Two days later, he did. And what started as Isaac stopping by to collect money somehow turned into something much more valuable… finding the woman who would become his wife.
