Flight

Charlotte Douglas International Airport

Strongly recommend flying in and out of Charlotte Douglas. It is approximately a 45 minute drive to Shelby. Take I-85 South to US Highway 74 West (Shelby/Kings Mountain). There is almost inevitably stop and go traffic around Exit 26 and 27 on I-85 (Gastonia exits). If you get to South Carolina, you have gone too far. US-74 is a notorious speed trap, so watch your speed!

Flight

Raleigh-Durham International Airport

Fly into Raleigh and drive (or take the train)! Not highly recommended due to time and logistics. However, if you do choose to go this route, we strongly recommend taking U.S. Highway 64 West to Asheboro and picking up N.C. 49 South. Take that until you hit I-485 North around Charlotte and follow to I-85 South. Take I-85 South to US Highway 74 West (Shelby/Kings Mountain). There is almost inevitably stop and go traffic around Exit 26 and 27 on I-85 (Gastonia exits). US-74 is a notorious speed trap, so watch your speed! Approximately a 3.5 hour drive (without stops) but is a much more scenic drive through the area than taking the Interstates (and traffic on I-85 north of Charlotte is always awful).
