It was Fall 2021, Marlena had just moved to Connecticut and knew no one locally. Naturally, she turned to Hinge for social interaction...Nick swiped right, and Marlena liked his profile back. It was Nick's baby blue eyes, wit, and responsiveness that kept Marlena interested. On the day of their first date, Nick called Marlena on the phone a few hours before they were set to meet at Bin 100 restaurant in Milford. Marlena panicked and thought, "Why is this guy from Hinge whom I have never spoken to calling me on the actual telephone?!?!" She hesitantly answered the phone, unsure what to expect. Nick was calling to casually mention that he was currently in a fender bender and might be late for our dinner. Marlena tried to re-schedule, but Nick was insistent on keeping the date. He threw in that if he couldn't drive his car due to damages, not to worry because he had two cars-the other being his beloved Mustang. The date went on as scheduled. Nick remembers thinking "She actually looks like the pictures from her profile"-this hadn't always been the case for him in his prior online dating experiences. When he got home afterwards, Kristen asked how the date went, he said "He would be disappointed if he didn't get to see her again". Marlena remembers calling her sister after the date and saying, "He talks a lot, but I think he may have just been nervous."-little did she know that wasn't the case and Nick always has and always will be a BIG talker! Later on in the relationship, they were reminiscing about that first date. Marlena said she had been worried about awkward silence, Nick replied "Just awkward, no silence!" Since the first day they met, Marlena came crashing into Nick's life, and the rest is history!
