Brad met JT when they both worked together at Icebreaker. They became friends because of their similar goofy personalities. They quickly realized they shared interests like video games, craft beer, and music. Together they have gone on hikes and attended their friend group's Music Club.

Cat and Marlena met through their boyfriend's gaming headsets which they would take to talk to each other in between games. They worked together while in college, were workout buddies at the university's rec center, and Marlena used to go to Cat's house to do massive loads of laundry when she didn't have a washing machine in her apartment. They have stayed friends ever since.

Brad met Justin shortly before they both moved away. They traveled to New Orleans together and bonded over a shared hobby of video games. In the time since they have remained friends and Justin has even visited Brad and Marlena in Portland.

Shelby and Marlena met while working together at Experis and quickly became close because of their shared love of the Smiths, Julien Baker, and human bones. Shelby quickly became close with the couple, traveling to concerts together and participating in their friend group's Music Club.
