We met on Hinge! Mary, Joel’s best friends now wife, was scrolling through Joel’s Hinge for him and decided to swipe right on me (thank goodness Joel liked me too). We went on our first date on Nov 19 at the Monterrey mexican restaurant and sat there and talked until they closed.

I thought we were headed to Outback for a date night. Joel told me to get all dressed up and then we drove separate to the restaurant. While we were both on the way, Joel called me and said there would be a long wait at the restaurant so for us to park and I get in the car with him so we could play Pokémon go while we waited on a table. He ends up driving us to downtown Matthews where we used to go on walks all the time when we first started dating. We park near the library and as we start walking towards the library, Hazel (our dog), runs up to us out of nowhere. I was so confused as to how she got there but before I could figure anything out, Joel was on one knee and asking me to marry him. Hazel’s bandana said “will you marry my dad?” It was perfect! Afterwards, I look up and both his mom and aunt are there wearing wigs to disguise themselves and taking our pictures!
