Unknowingly, we were physically close to each other for over 3 years as we both own houses in the same 26-house community, yet we never even crossed paths. At the end of 2019 we attended our annual Homeowner’s Association (HOA) meeting (as we’ve heard many times, "who goes to their HOA meetings?"), and at the meeting we were both intrigued to see a fellow young, responsible, good-looking homeowner! It turned out Dan was the mysterious neighbor who owned the awesome rooftop patio that Nicole always envied. Nicole went home that night sharing the news of meeting a very cute neighbor with her roommate, Nikki, and Nikki’s fiancé Mick. Crazy enough, it turned out Mick went to high school with Dan in St. Louis and had no idea he was living in Houston let alone 100 yards away from them. Nicole demanded Mick send Dan a personal Instagram message to get his contact information (“slide into his DM’s” for the younger generation). We shared neighborly niceties, but it wasn’t until the start of 2020 that we went on a few dates. Dan invited Nicole to his rooftop for dinner, drinks, and engaging conversation that lasted for hours. We went out on a few lovely dates in the beginning of 2020, but alas the timing wasn’t right. COVID changed a lot of things for all, but one good thing that came out of it was bringing us back together. In May 2020, Dan was visiting his Brother and Sister-in-law in Atlanta and serendipitously Nicole reached back out for a “neighborhood watch” walk and a picnic in the park. It was perfect timing because she was just who he was looking for. We spent the next few dates going to a drive-in movie, cooking at home, hiking at the park, and dancing to Michael Bublé in the living room... it was game-over since then. We had an amazing two years together traveling around Texas, the US, Mexico, trying new activities all around Houston, getting to know each other’s families and friends, and growing personally as well as together. Fast forward to our two-year anniversary in May 2022. Dan planned an “activity and nice dinner” to celebrate, but little did Nicole know, he had a romantic proposal planned! We Ubered to our spot at Buffalo Bayou Park near downtown—there’s a perfect bench with a great view of downtown which we used for our first date and multiple times since. The plan was to have a surprise photographer catch them talking and Dan popping the question. As luck has it, of all the nights possible, there ended up being a huge festival going on when we arrived, so we quickly called an audible to find a new bench. We sat and reminisced about the best parts of the past two years, Dan asked Nicole about what she was most excited for going forward, and when she asked back he pulled the ring from a hidden Yeti mug and got down on one knee! Nicole was completely surprised and overjoyed. We had a fun filled photoshoot in the park followed by another huge surprise – a rooftop party with friends and Nicole’s family at a classy bar downtown. We’ve had a fun ride together and most enjoy how easy it is to get along, how much we each push ourselves to grow, how we love being adventurous, and how we enjoy getting the most out of life. We look forward to living a vibrate life together full of love, family, success, and fun, and are so happy for you to share with us! We’ve only just begun….
