The attire for a wedding is cocktail attire. Anything that is cocktail is good to wear! Please do not reach out to the bride or groom to verify your intended outfit, as this creates more work k the wedding planning process. That’s what people say… If you have any fun suggestions for how we can incorporate Freaky Friday vibes into our day, please let us know!
Yes. Our wedding ceremony is a full nuptial mass, which is the most important part of the day for us. We are very excited that we are able to have our wedding at our parish from when we lived in Omaha. The Cabrini family, including our priest, Fr Damian, and deacon, Dcn Doug, and his wife, Ann, are all so amazing and welcoming. This community is special and we are thrilled to be back.
If you are Catholic and in a state of grace, yes. If you are either not a member of the Catholic Church, or are Catholic but not in a state of grace, no. For our friends and family who are not in a position to receive communion for either reason, we invite you to come forward during communion with your forearms crossed over your chest to receive a blessing. You can also remain seated. In the Catholic Church, the eucharist (or communion) can and should be received by: (1) people who are members of the Catholic Church, (2) who are also in a state of grace/not in a state of mortal sin. If you have committed a mortal sin, you can reenter a state of grace by going to confession. Mortal sins involve grave matters. Typically, knowingly not attending Sunday mass is considered a mortal sin due to Sundays being holy days of obligation. If you are a member of the Catholic Church and would like to receive the eucharist at this mass, but have not been regularly attending Sunday mass, we encourage and invite you to join us in making a confession prior to our wedding. Fr Damian will be available to hear confessions at St. Frances Cabrini on Thursday, 12 September 2024 on 1:00 pm. Please join us in making a confession prior to our wedding mass — we would love to receive this sacrament with you and then see you in the Eucharist, as well as in person, on this special day! We also suggest researching parishes in the local area to determine confession times, or attending confession at your local parish on Saturday, September 8th, 2024 before you travel to Omaha. St. Frances Cabrini also has daily mass every weekday at 11:30 AM if you are interested.
No, we will not be setting up or providing any shuttle services to or from the Mass or Marriage Celebration. The Marriott hotel, where one of our room blocks is, has a shuttle service included, which we set up. That will be available for guests staying there. But there will not be a shuttle for the wedding overall due to how close the reception venue is to St. Frances Cabrini. We recommend looking up these locations on Google Maps to gauge distance. If you feel you will not be able to walk, and want to ensure you have a ride set up, we recommend reserving a ride with Uber or Lyft. For a fun option, there will also be Lime scooters out in the city at this time, which can also be used via the Lime app.
Driving to our mass is definitely a good option. However, if you plan on drinking alcohol at our reception, we recommend walking or taking a Lyft/Uber. There are plenty of Lyfts/Ubers in the city, which are a better and safer option than driving following the reception. Omaha also has Lime scooters, and some other brands, available for use in the area.
For parking at St. Frances Cabrini, there is a small parking lot on the backside of the parish center (entrance on Williams Street). There is also a lot of free street parking, as well as a larger parking lot on the north side of the church.
The Vintage Ballroom is in the Old Market area of Omaha. There is metered street parking and a multi-level paid parking garage right next to the venue.
There are two high chairs and one booster seat at the reception venue. Our day-of coordinator and bartenders are all employees of the venue and should be able to assist in obtaining any of these three items for your child.
