We're tying the knot!

Sarah and Blake’s story began the way many modern love stories do — with a swipe on Hinge in December 2020. Blake quickly secured Sarah’s phone number under the very reasonable pretense of sending photos and videos of his dog, Miggy… a strategy that proved extremely effective. Just days later, they met for their first date at the Detroit Institute of Arts. What started as an afternoon wandering through galleries turned into shawarma sandwiches at Cedarland in Dearborn, and eventually a late night at Blake’s apartment watching Netflix. Sarah remembers nearly chickening out on going back to Blake's place, good thing she was brave (and actually had nothing to fear). They somehow finished an entire season of a show neither of them even liked. It was effortless from the start. Sarah’s first impression was that Blake was far too cool for her. But somewhere along the way, during one of their many trips to KOA Port Huron campground, she had a realization. In the middle of the night, Blake climbed into the top bunk and casually started eating cold leftover french fries. In that oddly perfect moment, Sarah remembers thinking for the first time, “I love him.” Ironically, the actual words “I love you” didn’t come until a little later, after the two navigated a flooded freeway together on the way home from a friend’s wedding, proving early on that they could handle just about anything side by side. Over time, their differences became their greatest balance. Sarah loves Blake’s thoughtful, logical way of seeing the world, while Blake appreciates how Sarah brings empathy and curiosity to every situation, always encouraging a deeper understanding. The proposal felt perfect to them. Blake planned a night centered around Sarah’s favorite, a steak dinner at a nice restaurant, before spontaneously suggesting they play pickleball at Rosie’s Park, where they often walk their dogs, Bonnie and Rosie. Before heading home, Blake offered one last walk along the nature trail. Surrounded by quiet and privacy, Blake surprised Sarah with a proposal she’ll never forget. They kept the news secret for the night, only letting Bonnie, Rosie, and Maple the cat in on the fun, their paw-rents were getting married! From dog photos and museum dates to campground adventures and late-night fries, from traveling to different states (and even Canada) specifically for concerts to jamming together at home while Blake drums and Sarah "sings" and boogies along; Sarah and Blake have built a relationship filled with laughter, music, partnership, and love. They cannot wait to begin their next chapter together!
