When I was home in Detroit for Christmas of 2019, my sister-in-law convinced me to download a dating app called Hinge. After downloading the app, I left it alone for a few weeks and then got bored one night and figured it wouldn't hurt to log in and see who was out there. Little did I know, a few weeks later I would initiate a conversation with a guy who had a cute little Huskey puppy as one of his profile pictures. A week or so went by and we started talking more and more and eventually, we decided we were going to meet up. Our first date wasn't set to be on Valentine's day, but after several attempts to get together earlier that week falling through due to one of us having to work late, Friday, February 14th, 2020 just happen to work out. Neither of us knew going into our 1st date, that it would end up being over 6 hours. We started off at Pourman's for a few drinks and as it was getting later into the night the music was getting louder and was getting harder to talk so we decided to then head to Mob Craft Brewery. After being at Mob Craft Brewery for a bit, Matt mentioned how he hasn't eaten since lunchtime (it was now after midnight) and asked if I wanted to go and grab some food with him. With it being after midnight, there weren't many sit-down places open that were still serving food. Matt asked if I would be ok with a late-night Mexican place and so the final destination of our 1st date was Cielito Lindo. As it was after one in the morning when finished eating and the evening was winding down, Matt asked if he could drop me off at home instead of having to wait for an Uber. He was a true gentleman and ended the night with, "I hope we can get together again soon!" It wasn't even 12 hours later and we were already talking about going out again the following weekend. Little did anyone know, the world was about to shut down about a month later. Before the shutdown due to COVID, we went on a few dates, I got to meet his friends and even his parents one night when he was shooting pool. Due to the world shutting down, we got to get to know each other really fast and learned quickly how not only did we meshed well together but also complimented one another. On a side note, it helped that his dog and one of my dogs quickly bonded and didn't like being separated.
