The Now Onyx has changed it's name to Dreams Onyx on June 15th, 2021. There have been some awesome upgrades made over the last couple years for this to happen. The name change won't change any of our plans, the resort is technically just a level up now! With that, the price to book may go up after the change, so we highly suggest you put a deposit down as soon as possible. The deposit will only be a couple hundred with the rest due before the trip. Reach out to our travel agent Dan to book and get more info!

As many of you know, Bryce and I are nearing a decade together. We first started dating in 2012 and the years have flown by. What many are surprised to hear, is we never discussed a proposal or wedding. We aren't the type to have a whole wedding planned out already or pick out rings together (this may be why we had been dating for 8 years before we got engaged). Bryce and I moved to MN November of 2019 from Denver, CO. Of course we missed the state immediately. So around Christmas time, we decided to book a trip back to the mountains to snowboard, see friends and hop around to our favorite bars as a birthday gift to us both since our bdays are a day apart in March. I’m a pretty intuitive person, so I did start to get some sort of feeling this trip could be the proposal...maybe it was how much Bryce was on board with me on booking flights and a trip right away, or maybe it was just that I wanted him to propose then. I've always wanted to be completely surprised by the proposal, so I tried not to think too much about it! When it was trip time and we landed in Denver, everything was working in our favor better than ever. We were constantly getting something free or upgraded, such as our rental car and hotel rooms. We hopped into our bright blue suv and headed to the mountains. We stayed at a friends condo near Vail, CO and snowboarded all of Bryce’s birthday followed by a hot tub soak and some beer and live music at Vail Brewing. It was the perfect day!
The next day we woke up sore, but ready to go! Unfortunately, the weather called for straight rain and then hail. We were so bummed, but I had a feeling he might propose on the mountain, plus it was my birthday, so I really wanted to go! We decided to chance it since we flew all the way out for 2 days of snowboarding. Once we got to the top of Vail mountain, the skies turned dark gray, but never rained. I love storms, so it was so cool to me plus the hill was basically emtpy. We had another incredible day boarding together, but no question was popped. ;) Bryce suggested we get dinner in Breckenridge for my birthday and although it was super odd for him to suggest a plan, especially a date, I thought it sounded great and had given up on a proposal happening. We started heading out to Breck, and he suggested we stop for photo at a lookout we both like on the way because I said earlier I wanted a cool pic of us for my bday. I immediately got a little anxious and felt his nerves too. We stopped for a quick coffee and Bryce would not get off his phone. He has a group text with his friends from college that he texts daily, so it didn’t phase me too much. Once we left Starbucks he announced he had to go to the bathroom so we had to back. LOL I was thrown off by that urgency, but we turned around and he waited in the Starbucks bathroom for what felt like 30 minutes. I later found out this was to stall for the photographer to get into position!! We finally got on the road again to the lookout before dinner, and it was a complete whiteout storm. This wasn't a huge surprise based off the weather for the day, but Bryce commented SO many times about how crazy the weather was. I started to get an even stronger feeling he was prepping to pop the q. However, as we were driving Bryce asked if I knew what the name of the lookout was. I was rattled and immediately thought, “you’re about to propose to me but you didn't even know the name of where it is?”. Smart on his part.
As we drove 30 min to the lookout, I wanted to make a joke about proposing so bad, but didn’t want to ruin the moment if it was going to happen. Right before we were pulling up to the lookout, he commented that we might not even have a view to see, and I said “yeah, it reminds me of when Mitch proposed to Jordan (my sister and brother in law) and I saw him go blank in the face and freeze. He said nothing and I laughed inside, knowing what was about to go down. At the lookout we got out and started walking. Both silent. I spotted a man with a camera backpack (most wouldn't know it was for cameras, but I recognized the brand) standing next to the bathroom stall as if he was hiding. I honestly didn't think he was there for us! Before I knew it Bryce was saying something sweet - that I cannot remember - and got down on one knee in the snowstorm! I pulled him up when I said yes!! ..and then he got down again haha. I later found out it was because the photographer wanted him to stay down for a while for the shot and I yanked him up too quick. After we hugged and started to relax, all the clouds disappeared, snow stopped, and we had the most stunning & epic view. Bryce choose the absolute perfect ring and I will forever be impressed with the execution and weekend we had for our proposal! I might have had an inkling, but didn't expect it to be that amazing and with a photographer. We landed back in MN just in time for the worldwide quarantine, so grateful to be engaged.
