Nothing in life is for certain. Just because you tell yourself that you're going to be an Architect, or you figured to be a flight attendant someday, or better yet marry the person in your dreams. There is no guarantee that either of those things will ever happen no matter the hard work you put into it. You certainly hope they will. But we don't really know. Life can change in an instant. The beauty of unexpected things is simply that. Take me for instance, I just stopped by at a local store. Kamla was working. She wasn't suppose to work that day, and suppose she hadn't? I went to grab a chocolate that i haven't even tried yet just so I can get closer without being noticeably obvious. Well she did. The woman has a sharp eye. I still remember that mysterious smile when I helped her down on that ladder. And then I held her hand. At one point I looked down and I couldn't tell which fingers were hers and which were mine. Before you knew it, I was stopping at that store everyday getting that absurdly addictive chocolate just so I can have a conversation with her. I was hooked. I have power over nothing. And that's when this feeling came over me like a warm blanket. I knew somehow, I had to ask her out. Sixteen long years later and couple of wonderful kids, I'm still madly in love with her. We've dealt with our share of surprises and made a lot of sacrifices but we stayed together. The thing is, she is a better person than I am. And it made me a better person to be around her. And Yes, we still get that chocolate at that store every now and then. You make plans with your life and sometimes simple decisions takes you someplace you have never been and it will grow on you. No one could've told me that a peanut milk chocolate called Choc-Nut would've changed my life in a better way.
