How We Met:

Shari and Mark first met during a camping trip with friends in 2011, but it wasn’t exactly love at first sight. Mark was with a group of guys who had cut down a tree in their search for firewood, and Shari was furious (and vocal) about how she felt about their killing a live tree. Luckily, their first impressions of each other changed and for the better! A few months after camping, Mark was in search of a place to live and moved in with Shari who had an extra bedroom in her house. Soon after they began to see each other in a different light, and Shari quickly fell in love with Mark's helpfulness around the house and overall thoughtful consideration of her. They started officially dating in 2012 and in no time at all, Mark landed the affection of another Lightfield--Shari's dad Adam. Mark worked with both Adam and Shari at Adam's transmission shop, and he has become more like a son to Adam than a son-in-law. He is part of the Lightfield family and is even taking the Lightfield name! Shari and Mark have come a long way since their argument over a tree in the woods and will start growing roots toward a family tree together.

How He Proposed

Prior to proposing, Mark asked for permission from the two most important people in Shari's life, her sister Brea and her dad Adam. Mark's plan was to pop the question on top of a mountain while the four of them were snowmobiling, but his nerves took over and he missed the mountain moment. Soon the four of them were back at the bus where they would normally get packed up and head home. Shari was very confused about why Adam and Brea were making conversation instead of getting packed up, and Adam and Brea were also confused but about why Mark hadn’t proposed yet! Eventually Adam and Brea left Shari and Mark in the bus alone and that’s when Mark got down on one knee and [finally!] asked Shari to be his bride. Of course Shari said YES, and then he finally put a ring on it.

About the Venue

Shari and Mark both love the outdoors and knew that’s where they wanted to tie the knot. Shari had been to Hubbard’s Yellowstone Lodge to ride horses and had fallen in love with the serenity of the landscape of Montana. She brought Mark to see the venue in September, and he loved it as well. They saw a bald eagle couple on their first day visiting, and knowing that bald eagles mate for life, they felt it was meant to be. They are excited to share their big day with their friends and family in such a special place.
