FAQs

Detailed information about the cabins, site, location, and any questions you may have!
Question

What is Ovy Camp?

Answer

OVY stands for Optimist Volunteers for Youth, Inc. OVY is a non-profit organization established in 1952 that aims to provide youth with a safe, enjoyable, and educational summer camp experience at little to no cost; while offering character building opportunities and promoting service, volunteerism, and leadership within the community. By hosting our wedding at Ovy Camp, we are covering the cost of an amazing summer camp experience for disadvantaged children in the Bay Area. Enjoy the summer camp vibes and know you are helping children enjoy the beautiful outdoors!

Question

Is there parking and can I drive there?

Answer

Yes! Tons of parking so no need to worry. There is limited cell service so either download google maps beforehand and make sure to arrange a ride home since Lyft/Uber will not be available to pick you up from the camp site.

Question

Im staying on site in a cabin, what should I bring?

Answer

Its a summer camp, so think camp and outdoor vibes! Bring anything you may need to be comfortable in the outdoors! The cabins are small with bunk beds, without power or heat, but they stay cozy and warm. Bathrooms are located near the cabins with sinks and toilets, the showers are located near Scheid Hall. Below is a list to help you out: - Flip Flops for going to and from the Showers and Bathrooms - Headlamp or Flash light - Eye Mask (there are lights at the RR Pod) - Ear Plugs (may be noisy from late night guests) - Extra sweaters or layers , it can get cold at night - Swim suit - Swim or bath towel - Sunscreen - Bug Spray - Toiletries - Personal Mirror ( limited RR space) - Pillow - Blanket / Sleeping Bag. - Charging Brick - Casual clothes / Hiking clothes for Saturday - Sunglasses

Question

When can I check in?

Answer

Guests can check in as early as 3 pm on Friday if you are planning to stay the entire weekend. There is ample parking on site and if you are staying in a cabin, you will be able to drive up and park next to your cabin. If you would like to stay for Saturday night only, please plan to check in Saturday between 11 and 1

Question

How many people can stay in a cabin?

Answer

Each cabin has up to 9 twin beds. We will try to group families and close friends in their own cabin, but depending on how many people would like to stay on site, you may be sharing with a buddy.

Question

Is there power in the cabins?

Answer

No. There is only a single lightbulb, no outlets. You will need to get ready in the lockers rooms by the pool, Willow Glen Cabin, or the bathrooms next to Scheid Hall. There are outlets in the main hall where you can charge your phone.

Question

Can I bring my own tent?

Answer

YES! Feel free to bring your own tent. You will be able to set it up in the Cabin Area

Question

For the love of god is there Wifi?!

Answer

YES! There is free WIFI at Scheid Hall. This is the main hall where the reception and breakfast will take place. The wifi may not reach all the way to the cabins. Be warned, some service is very spotty at the campsite. Network: OVY Camp Password: ovyovyovy2018

Question

Can we bring our Kids?

Answer

Please refer to your RSVP and the family members who are included. We wanted to give families the option to travel with their kids and explore California together! Please remember, this is a campsite so it is not childproof! We are located next to a state park so we are surround by woods and wildlife and the camp site does not have any on site staff.

Question

Can I bring my own food and alcohol?

Answer

Yes! We have access to the entire camp which includes the catering kitchen that has multiple refrigerators and freezers, oven, microwave, coffee maker, and dishware. For booze, we can only have beer and wine on site, no hard liquor. Please be aware there are no staff on site! Please be respectful and clean up after yourself.

Question

Is it smoke free?

Answer

No! You can smoke cigarettes and other California native items on the campground. You MUST pick up your butts or we will be charged $5 for every butt found, which is a charge we will gladly pass along to you.

Question

Can I bring Fido?

Answer

Unfortunately no. Dogs and other pets are not allowed on the campgrounds

Question

Can we bring our RV?

Answer

Yes! RVs cannot exceed 40' in length and a maximum of 2 RVs is allowed. There are not utilities for hookup, its a parking space only.

Question

How "Campy" is it?

Answer

Its pretty campy baby, so break out your flannel and embrace it. There are all of the facilities you could need so you wont be uncomfortable, but this will not replace a nice hotel stay. If you prefer to be more comfortable, there are lots of Airbnb's in the area, and tons of affordable hotels in Half Moon Bay.

Question

So how deep in the woods are we? *Cue Banjo music*

Answer

Its not the sticks, but we are far enough away that some people will have patchy or no cell service. For check in, it would be best to arrive during the day before sunset because there are no lights along the main road or along the gravel road leading to the camp. It will be very dark and may be hard to navigate.

Question

Will we be able to swim?

Answer

Yes! We will have a posted lifeguard for open swim hours, weather permitting that is. Please bring towels, swimsuits, goggles, and any floaties. There are Mens and Womens locker rooms located next to the pool so you can shower and store your items.
