FAQs

While military weddings are quite special, they also come with special protocol! Please review the below FAQs to help us make the day as smooth as possible.
Question

Where is your registry?

Answer

Mark and Katie are so grateful for the many blessings in their lives that provided them with stability and safety throughout the pandemic. In lieu of any registry gifts, we ask that you make a donation to your favorite charity. Thank you to everyone who sent a gift earlier in 2020!

Question

What are you doing about COVID-19?

Answer

What a ride it has been! We have all been through so much. We know the situation is ever-changing, but are confident that things are in a much better place than they were two years ago. If need be, we will make appropriate adjustments to keep everything compliant and safe.

Question

How do I get on to the USNA grounds for the ceremony?

Answer

Buses will be provided to drive guests on and off base in order to expedite screening. Time and place for bus departures will be announced soon!

Question

What identification is required to get onto the USNA grounds?

Answer

All guests accessing the Yard 18 years of age or older must present a valid, unexpired, original REAL ID Act compliant government photo ID card; an original unexpired passport to enter USNA grounds. Visitors from states and territories that are not REAL ID Act compliant must present additional, acceptable identification. As a precaution, it is encouraged that visitors and guests carry a secondary form of identification, preferably an original, unexpired PASSPORT. Before you visit, please check the following Department of Homeland Security (DHS) website for the current list of compliant and non-compliant states and territories: https://www.dhs.gov/real-id Please visit the link below for acceptable forms of additional identification: http://www.usnabsd.com/wp-content/uploads/AcceptableIDS-16JUN2017.pdf

Question

What if I miss the bus?

Answer

Pedestrians may enter at Gate 1, Gate 3 or Gate 8 by showing appropriate ID. Military or DOD credentials are not required, nor is pre- clearance. It is helpful for the party to note their destination for the sentry, when showing ID. The sentry may also search any bags (including purses) coming aboard. After Gates 1 and 3 close, there are outbound turnstiles allowing exit at these gates. Gate 8 is always open for pedestrian exit. Please note that guests need to be seated 30 MINUTES before ceremony begins.

Question

What kind of weather should I dress for?

Answer

The historic high/low forecast for our wedding date is 77°/57° F, so it should be pretty pleasant weather! Be sure to have a light jacket or wrap in case of a cold snap. We suggest checking the forecast the week of the ceremony to decide if you need to bring rain gear.
