AFTER PARTY BEACH DAY!

This is a non-hosted activity. Please note the only way to get to the private island is a 10min boat ride (which is included in the Day Pass you will purchase). A Taxi is recommended to the beach of Nuevo Hospital de Bocagrande (Cll 5 #6-49), Next to El Laguito, where the boat is located. Taxi cab fare is about $10,000 pesos ($3 USD). The Day Pass costs around $110.000 pesos ($29-32 USD) per person and includes: *Transport via local speedboat. *Welcome drink. *Lunch (Options: Island, chicken, vegetarian) *Access to beach lounge and private beach. *Towel. *Pool. There are other services available like massages and kayaks for an extra cost. If you would like to join us you can RSVP for the beach day when you RSVP for the wedding. We will send a link to your email for payment and details before the trip.

Tropical cocktail chic is the name of the game. That means: Men - guayabera shirts, linen shirts, or a light suit since Cartagena is hot. Women - tropical dressy cocktail attire. DO I NEED A PASSPORT?

To enter Colombia, your passport must be valid for a minimum of 6 months after your travel dates. For example, since you are traveling to Colombia in March 2022, your passport must be valid through September 2022. Also, y muy importante, you cannot purchase flights without a valid passport. So, if you're reading this, now is the time to get one.

Don't worry! Cartagena is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in Colombia, well-equipped to handle visitors from all over the world. Luckily for you, English is widely spoken throughout the city.

SHOULD I USE CASH IN CARTAGENA? WHERE SHOULD I GET IT?
Answer
While most places in Cartagena accept credit cards, you will need cash for taxis (if not using uber) and to purchase items from street vendors and mom-and-pop shops. You will also need cash if you're planning to take a day trip outside of the city. In Colombia, they use Colombian pesos. The exchange rate is about 3,700 COP to $1 USD. The best way to get cash is by bringing a debit card and taking cash out of an atm when you arrive. This ensures the best exchange rate with minimal fees.

IS IT CUSTOMARY TO TIP?

It's typically (yes, pun intended) customary to tip around 10%. To make it easy, however, most bars and restaurants usually include a 10% service fee so you won't have to worry about the math. If you sign up for any excursion or tour, we recommend you tip your guides!

IS UBER IN CARTAGENA? IS IT SAFE TO HAIL A TAXI? HOW MUCH DO TAXIS COST?

Three questions in one! Let's break this down. Yes, uber exists in Cartagena. As long as you have an international data plan on your mobile phone, you should be able to use uber. It is also very safe to hail a taxi, especially from landmarks. Taxi drivers have set fares to the most popular destinations, so you should confirm the amount before leaving. Private taxi companies (that work directly with hotels) are usually white and will charge a little bit more, but rides are comparatively very inexpensive. Taxis are generally $8.000-$11.000 cop ($4-6 USD) to most spots in the walled city.

SHOULD I DRINK THE TAP WATER?
Answer
Unless you are looking to roll the dice on future stomach ailments, we wouldn't recommend it! It's best to just stick with bottled or bagged water, which you can find in every restaurant, bar, hotel, store, etc. Also, if you want to be extra safe, start taking probiotics at least 1 week before you travel so that you prepare your stomach for all the new interesting foods you'll be trying!
