In March 2019, Mark logged on as per usual to Facebook. In the top corner was a red notification that read "Caitlin Farley has requested to be your friend." Not knowing who this Caitlin person was, Mark decided to gather as much information before accepting the request - you can never be too careful. Lo and behold, Mark found she was a teacher at his feeder middle school: Wicomico Middle. Mark accepted the request. A few days go by and Mark decided to reach out to Caitlin and slid right into those DM's. He said, "I’ve been trying to figure this out all day, but other than working for WCPS, how do we know each other? 😂" "You kept popping up on my people you may know, and I remembered Jana Hobbs speaking highly of you last year when she tried to recruit me as the colorguard tech. Then someone else at work (I teach at Wi Middle) brought you up the other day, and my curiosity got the better of me 😅🤷🏻♀️" As a band director, Mark knows enough people to know about everyone in Wicomico County. He ran over to his work wife's room (Jana Hobbs) and asked if she knew a "Ms. Farley." Jana began to rave about her. With this information and after a few days of texting, Mark finally asked with all smoothness and charm he could muster: "So is this when I ask for a date?" They went to Backstreet for a lovely dinner. Before the date was over, date number 2 was already planned. It's been a love story ever since.
He forgot to mention that he showed up for our first date with 18 white roses in hand. (So don't be surprised if you see those at the wedding!) As soon as he introduced himself, I knew he was going to break the 2 date limit I hadn't let any man get past in quite some time. He asked if I wanted to get ice cream at Island Creamery before we had even finished dinner, and that about sealed our fate. Before our planned second date 5 days later, we saw each other 3 more times. And the rest, they say, is history!
