We are not quite sure the circumstances directly leading up to it, but we like to think that we first matched on the Bumble App during the first crisp fall day of September, 2022. In all likelihood, Mark doesn't remember what the weather was since he was probably cooped up in his office working on a team project. In any event, Amy messaged Mark first (as was the protocol on Bumble) and instantly poured on the witty banter, however in the History According to Mark, he was the wittier one, though Amy says she has receipts backing her claim. Those closest to us know that we’re both pretty busy people most of the year. This was most evident in the fall of 2022. Amy had 2 bachelorettes and 3 weddings in addition to her usual comings and goings. Mark was deep into the High Holidays on top of his social obligations. To make matters even more interesting, Mark lived in NJ and Amy lived in uptown Manhattan, which by the definition of most New Yorkers, IS a long distance relationship (I guess, IYKYK) In a city where the dating scene is heavily predicated on proximity, one might think this would be a reason to stop texting, making plans or really making an effort. Luckily for us, we both started to realize after just a few dates how our genuine interest in one another was growing and how we seamlessly fit into each others lives, giving us an early preview of how great of a team we would make (even if we hate each others baseball teams). Over the next two years we would meet each others families and friends, start traveling together, move to an apartment in Jersey City, and most importantly, as it would turn out, begin re-reading the Harry Potter Books. Free time was still at a premium, so often before bedtime would the preferred reading time, if we weren't too exhausted. Mark was waiting for us to finish the 7th book to propose, so 2 years and 1 week after our first date (despite Amy's slow reading) we FINALLY finished the last Harry Potter book. Mark got down on one knee and asked Amy to marry him! Amy is now attempting to READ FASTER in case any other life moments come down to her being a speedier reader.
