How We Met

First Crush and First Love

We both grew up attending the same church since we were both about 7 or 8 years old. Growing up we both had a crush on each other but we were both too shy and too young for either of us to make the first move!

The Proposal

April 6, 2019

Mark had planned a photoshoot with our friends from church, Johnny and Nancy for Nancy's birthday. Little did I know this was just a cover up for what was about to happen later that day. We all decided to go explore some locations, but not really knowing where to go. However, Mark had already planned to go directly to a place in Laguna Beach called Treasure Island where he had already taken me the day before without knowing he would propose in that same exact spot 24 hrs later. We were there taking pictures for Nancy's birthday, yet Johnny for the most part kept on only taking pictures of us the entire time. Mark seemed nervous and had to take plenty of bathroom breaks throughout the day. When Mark came back from his last break, Johnny and Nancy decided to go and take a walk back to a particular spot Mark had mentioned he wanted to return to (a hint to Johnny that was the proposal spot). As we were walking back, Mark had me close by and we walked very slowly a great distance behind them as if he didn't want me to rush after them. As we got to the part of the cliff that over looked the beach and the sunset, Mark held me in his arms and we got lost in the oceans breeze. We began talking about how perfect the weather was and how happy we both were in that exact moment. Mark decided to play a game from a movie we saw the previous day, Christopher Robbin (another small planned out detail). The game was to "Say What You See" as we overlooked the beach and sunset. I would say things like, "I see a girl in a red sweater.' Mark would reply, "I see happiness." I would say, "I see a duck." Mark would reply, "I see a future with love." At that very moment I hear our song playing (The Lava Song) and as I turn around Johnny and Nancy had set up our little spot with rose petals and a speaker that was playing our song. At that very moment I see Mark get down on one knee and began saying the very exact things I've been waiting to hear a whole lifetime. And of course I said yes!
