It was a balmy Labor Day weekend when these two first laid eyes on each other. Mark, having recently relocated from Carbondale to Seattle, drove the 14 hours to continue a long standing tradition of rafting shenanigans on the Snake River in Wyoming. Lexi, who lived in Boulder at the time, was extended her first invite on the trip and had heard rumor of the unparalleled debauchery...of course, she decided to go. She had also heard rumor that "this amazing guy" who "everyone loves" was going to be there... Many do not know that Lexi actually proposed to Mark first. However, we are unsure if it was the twisted plastic soda can holder of a ring or Lexi's ridiculous antics that had Mark feeling a little bit wary of committing so quickly. Regardless, the two had a spontaneous, rowdy, hilarious and memorable weekend. Mark, the "amazing guy" that he is, said goodbye on the last morning with hugs from the vestibule of Lexi's tent, narrowly escaping a run in with the local Park Rangers shortly after his departure. After returning back to Boulder, Lexi, to put it bluntly, just could not stop thinking about this fellow. After many texts and calls back and forth, Mark made a detour to Boulder in the middle of a work trip and the rest is history.
Mark, Lexi and their friend Alex went out for what seemed like a causal backcountry ski adventure. They toured their way to the finest lookout the Lenado Country Club has to offer. With phones dying left and right, Mark suggested that he and Lexi get their picture taken by Alex. With the mountains in the background and Lexi trudging through thigh deep snow, Mark dropped to his knee and exclaimed, "I can't imagine living the rest of my life with you!". The pair sorted out the confusion and Lexi said, "Yes!".
