It was day five of spring break which Kyle and Marjie were going to spend at Yorktown Beach. The night before Marjie had the idea of wearing cute outfits and taking pictures at the beach because due to corona they had not been able to go out and dress up much. The next morning, they ate a quick breakfast and packed a picnic for lunch. They completed the hour drive to the beach and Kyle wanted to go for a walk before they set up all of the stuff. Unsuspectingly, Marjie agreed and grabbed her camera. The beach was very quiet and only a few people were around playing football. As they walked down the beach, they passed a sand dune with grass on it and Kyle paused. He got down on one knee as two of their college friends jumped out of the grass with cameras. Kyle said, " Marjie I couldn't imagine spending my life without you so I wanted to take this day at the beach and create something special, I love you more than I ever thought I could, Marjie Elisabeth Thompson, Will you marry me?" Of course, Marjie said yes because she felt the exact same way. They proceeded to have their pictures taken and do a mini photoshoot with the talented Josh Hill and Isaac Nunn. Afterward, they spent time eating their picnic and excitedly calling family and friends to share the news. They gathered shells and sand to make a memory jar for the day. Then, because everything was closed, they headed back to Richmond where they were staying with Kyle's family for spring break. As they walked through the door, there was another surprise awaiting Marjie. Kyle's family had decorated the house with engagement and congratulatory decorations and made them a celebratory family dinner and cake! Kyle had planned this as a way to make the evening special without having to break the stay at home order. The evening was spent talking about the day as the Robeys happily welcomed Marjie as a soon to be a new addition to the family.

Kyle and Marjie met at college their first semester of freshman year. They were introduced by Kyles's roommate, Isaac, who also played in the Liberty University Marching Band with Marjie. It was the night LU beat Baylor for football. Liberty had a big celebration on the football field. Marjie was hanging out with a bunch of trumpet players which, included Isaac, who brought Kyle. Kyle remembers thinking Marjie was happy and energetic and Marjie, remembers thinking he was sweet. He walked her back to her dorm that night. In a couple of days he reached out to her to get to know her better, and that's how it all began.
