In 2021 dating in Los Angeles was still a little wonky. What does one do when one can scarcely leave their house? Dating apps of course! Clearly Marjorie & Jack had the same idea because they matched on Hinge in February of 2021. On Marjorie's profile, she noted that she’s "Overly competitive about pretty much everything but especially Wii tennis." Like the charming gentleman he is, Jack responded by threatening to "f*** her up in Wii bowling." Marjorie found this amusing and invited Jack to chat. Jack thought “hey…didn’t I just chat you? Now I’ve got to chat this girl again? Kind of high maintenance, no?” But alas, Marjorie was too cute and so days later he caved and said, “Howdy Majorie.” You’ll notice he forgot an “r” in her name. An honest mistake? No. He would go on to misspell it 10 more times before she noticed. Love is blind! For their first date on March 2nd, they went for tacos in Echo Park. Jack then revealed mid date that he doesn’t love tacos. Stick in the mud! (We later found out he has the cilantro gene). Three-ish months later they traveled to Cabo San Lucas for Marjorie’s birthday, where Jack told Marjorie he loved her. Soon thereafter were trips to Marjorie’s parent’s home in northern California and a trip to Minnesota for the 4th of July. Roughly one year after meeting, Jack and Marjorie moved in together in the lovely Los Angeles neighborhood of Eagle Rock. By October of 2022 they thought they ought to have a family, so they adopted a maddeningly adorable (and now shockingly spoiled) mutt named Wally. The topic of their future came up frequently; they both knew they were a perfect match. Marjorie was super chill about the whole thing. She certainly wasn’t nosey about when Jack was going to propose, how he was going to do it, or what sort of ring shopping he was doing. Jack had been planning meticulously and finally got his ducks in a row right around their 4th anniversary. It was finally time to pop the question. Jack proposed to Marjorie in the walnut orchards on her parent’s property on the spring equinox of 2025. Marjorie had been out shopping with her mother while Jack set everything up. She had NO idea the engagement was happening (truly none at all, although she grew suspicious when her father called and requested they pick up “more champagne”). When Marjorie arrived home Jack called her and asked that she meet him in the orchards. At the end of a walk they’ve done 1000 times before, is a little gate, which they always knock on to make a wish. This time when Marjorie arrived at the gate there was a tableclothed-table and chairs, a bottle of champagne, flowers, chocolate, and her soon to be fiancé anxious to ask for her hand in marriage. She said yes! And now they are more in love than ever, and their love grows every day.
