It was March 11th, 2020. The world was in the process of shutting down, but in the Rathskeller (aka the basement of Student Center East at UIC), there was something new, something special, just starting up. There is not a more romantic way to meet each other than in the middle of a game of telephone charades - especially when you are trying to act out the Titanic. Ever since that day, a faithful God-fearing relationship has grown. Fast forward to midnight just over a week later, we had just hopped off our first phone call. Andrew was filled with amazement at the ease of conversation and the excitement he felt for the next time they could talk. Marjie was excited to be able to talk next after a conversation where they had meshed so well. From those first interactions flowed many, many miles traveled between Columbus, OH and Chicago, IL, with stops to our hometowns of Livonia, MI and Cedar Rapids, IA along the way -- all the while, our love for one another growing deeper and stronger. Some special highlights were pancake food fights, waking up at 4 am to pick Marjie up and watch a Chicago sunrise, digging a car out of 2 feet of snow, a cold and rainy graduation, multiple moves, and one special proposal. In each step, the Lord has opened and closed doors and provided many times over. He truly is a good Shepard and as we pursued Him, we saw our relationship grow and transform in ways we did not for-see, but were the best in the end. We are excited for the future that lies ahead, and whatever God has in store! In the meantime, we cannot wait to celebrate our upcoming marriage with you.
