Jose and Marissa met in Downtown Long Beach at a Latin dance club. When Jose left his house that evening he believed going out dancing had become a waste of his time and Marissa had not gone dancing since moving back from San Diego a few years ago. Encouraged by friends to join them that evening, they both agreed to go one more time. Jose asked Marissa to dance after he watched her laughing and having fun with her friends on the dance floor. His sister told him before he left home that night, to go meet someone with dimples. Interestingly, Marissa has a really big dimple. He mustered up the courage to ask her if she would like to dance. After carefully looking at him, she thought he was much too young for her, and she told him she was on her way outside to talk with her friends. She left him to go outside. After talking with friends for over half an hour she came back toward the room, he opened the door and said, “Would you like to dance now?” One of her friends told Marissa, “Go! I’ll hold your stuff, he has been waiting for you, have fun!” Jose is an amazing dancer and he showed her his Bachata moves, and she just tried to keep in step and dance to the beat. As they danced through three songs, it literally felt like they were the only two in the room, and they couldn’t imagine dancing with anyone else ever again. It was love at first dance and second glance. And that is how their love story began. This is the start our amazing journey together. Thank you for your love and support. Marissa & Jose.
