Westport’s historic downtown is incredibly charming and sits right along the Saugatuck River. It is a fantastic spot to grab a coffee, walk around, and pop into local boutiques and well-known shops.
Even if it is a bit too brisk for swimming in late April, Compo Beach is beautiful for a coastal walk. You can walk along the boardwalk, look out at the Long Island Sound, and watch the boats by the marina.
If you want a little more nature, Connecticut’s oldest state park offers lovely, easy walking trails, beach paths, and quiet woods that start waking up with spring color by late April.
A must-visit. It’s an artisanal, family-owned bakery that literally mills their own flour on-site. Grab incredible house-made croissants, a breakfast sandwich on fresh sourdough, and excellent specialty coffee.
