Marissa and Nick met the modern way, on a fancy little dating app. They began talking on Palm Sunday in April 2022. When Marissa sent Nick a picture of her palm folded into a cross, Nick says he felt like he was right at home. They had their first date at Steel Bender a few weeks later when Marissa paid for dinner after Nick told her how much he made as a rookie firefighter! They went for a walk after dinner along the Bosque, which has become one of their favorite places to spend time together.   The two spent the summer together, including a trip to California to drive Nick’s 1970 Skylark muscle car back to Albuquerque. That fall, Nick officially asked Marissa to be his girlfriend after a nice dinner in Corrales, a place where they both dreamed of building a home and now starting a life together.   Their relationships did have some bumps in the road, including Nick needing to get used to Marissa’s adorable, but yappy and spoiled Chihuahuas puppies, Nacho and Benito. And Marissa having to move to Rio Rancho (a daily 45-minute commute from work), and Nick going through paramedic school. But these days, Nick is thriving as a paramedic firefighter, he cuddles with Benito every night, and the two have purchased their first home in Albuquerque, a close commute to work for both of them.   In March 2024, Nick took Marissa on yet another walk in Corrales where he got on one knee and asked her to marry him. He threw a surprise engagement party afterwards at Casa Rodeña winery and then they shared a meal at Steel Bender with all their loved ones to commemorate where their love story began.   The best part of their love story began in August of 2024, when they found out they were expecting baby Mia, who made her big debut on April 30, 2025. She is more perfect than any of us could have imagined. Mia too enjoys a beautiful walk in the Bosque with her parents and they love her more than they can put into words.   While they had an intimate small wedding ceremony in December 2024, they cannot wait to celebrate their love, marriage, and family with all their loved ones this coming November!
