Mike and Marissa met on a rainy day on a busy New York City street. Mike offered Marissa his umbrella, and she offered him her heart . . . just kidding, they actually met on the dating app Hinge in 2018. After swiping right, they met at Woodhul wine bar in Brooklyn where Marissa lived at the time. While Mike was initially skeptical to make the long-distance trek across the river to Brooklyn, he thought his cute date was worth the sacrifice. Mike and Marissa bonded over a mutual interest in exploring new things, including new cuisines (Marissa had never experienced omakase before Mike), new activities (Mike had never attempted a downward dog before Marissa), and new countries. The relationship took a big step when Marissa suggested an impromptu weekend trip for their 4th date to . . . Guatemala! Mike immediately said yes and the rest was history. Mike and Marissa have enjoyed exploring many new places together since, including Portugal, Japan, Italy, Mexico, a 6-month tour of the east coast during Covid, and an extra special trip to France—where they got engaged. Marissa was completely surprised when Mike planned a picnic in the South of France and got down on one knee and proposed. Most recently, Mike and Marissa embarked on another new adventure. After 10 years in NYC, they packed up their one-bedroom apartment and moved to Austin, Texas. They can’t wait to celebrate with all of you in their new home in September!
