After a mutually long and tiring experience in the online dating world, a "last chance" swipe brought us together on a Sunday in November. With me traveling so much for work (me, being Marissa, who is writing this), I was headed to San Diego so we weren't able to go on a date right away. I go to lunch with my team at GR kitchen quite frequently, which I had found was in the same parking lot as the building Mike worked. I mentioned to Mike to NOT (emphasis being on the not part) come to GR kitchen because I was going to be there with my team and didn't want our first meeting to be in front of them. I am sure all you who know Mike know at this point of reading that Mike DID show up to GR kitchen and proceeded to try and get my attention (to which I didn't notice) until he went to leave. And then it happened, our eyes met, and me, mid sentence with my team turned 50 shades of red and lost my train of thought (because he was so handsome, of course). We went on messaging after the eye locking at GR kitchen and I headed to San Diego. We decided to have our first date on Thanksgiving at Snowbird the day I returned. Mike drove us (and for those of you who know me are wondering how I handled that) and we headed to dinner. It was snowing (my favorite) and the conversation was so easy. We got to Snowbird and sat down at our table and started talking. As cheesy as it sounds, no one else existed that evening, just us. This became evident when they started stacking chairs on tables around us. Mike drove us home and before I got out of the car, asked if he could play me a song (Beyond by Leon Bridges). I LOVED it. I remember thinking what a cheese ball, but I loved every second of it. He walked me to the door and before he could say goodnight, I kissed him. When I saw the shocked look on his face, I knew we were in for something amazing.
