Out of love and respect for our family and friend’s health and well-being, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our September 12th, 2020 vow renewal. We have appreciated all of the love and support that we have received throughout the first few months of our marriage and hope to celebrate with each of you individually as we get to see you again. With love, Michael and Marissa
Her Story: Michael and I's love story is one of my favorite stories to tell. The summer after my Junior year of undergrad, I set out on one of the greatest adventures of my life. I left to study abroad for a month in Italy. I had a layover in Chicago and was meeting up with some other students from my program to fly the last leg to Rome together. As I sat waiting, this tall guy came around the corner. We completely hit it off and we stayed up the whole flight talking about our families and drinking wine. By the time we landed in Rome, it was clear that we were in to each other. We (unsuccessfully) tried to keep it casual for a few weeks before it became clear that we had a special connection. By the time we left to go back to the states, Michael was one of the most important people in my life. We have spent the three years since that trip learning, growing, and falling more in love with each other. I am so proud to stand by his side and incredibly excited to become husband and wife! His Story: In the summer of 2016, I walked up to my gate at Chicago O'Hare International Airport to meet with other students who were going on the study abroad trip to Rome. Marissa was part of that group. On the plane I noticed that Marissa was sitting far away, so I asked the person next to me to switch places with her and Marissa and I talked the whole flight. The first few days of the trip were great, and Marissa and I would talk a lot. Then the first weekend of the trip I went to visit some friends in Lisbon and everyone else went to Barcelona. When we got back from the trip Marissa immediately ran up and hugged me, and at that point I knew we weren't "just casual". It took until the last week of the trip, while we were in Milan, for us to decide to give things an official try. Ever since then there hasn't been a time in our relationship where we have considered not being together. Now here we are and I could not be more happy and excited to spend the rest of my life with Marissa.
