Our story starts in May 2022, a post-pandemic era where it seemed the only way to date was through dating apps. After months of bad dates, Mac was very close to giving up and deleting all of his apps, but on a trip to Austin, he matched with Marissa. Giving it one more shot, with some liquid courage, he decided to slide into Marissa's DMs. Fortunately, Mac’s witty opener caught Marissa’s attention, and we decided to go on a first date as soon as he returned to Scottsdale. We met at a bar, and the banter continued effortlessly, so much so that this time Marissa asked Mac out for the very next day to watch game seven of the Suns’ playoffs together. We were tested on how well we could get along as we watched our team get completely obliterated by the Mavericks. Despite our mutual disappointment, Mac seemed to have passed every test up until this point and somehow survived Marissa’s nervous chatter, which included an extensive phonics lesson. The next date was the most important of them all—meeting Luna, Marissa's dog. Without her approval, we may not be telling this story today. Luckily, on that date, Mac miraculously won over Luna (and Marissa), and at the same time, Marissa got Mac to fall for her. Fast-forward to our first trip together. We decided to go to Marissa's favorite place, the beach! While at Huntington Beach, Marissa enjoyed the sun, ocean breeze, and a few White Claws, while Mac, now officially her boyfriend, body surfed in the chilly Pacific Ocean water. To this day, Mac has never caught better waves than the ones with Marissa encouraging him from the shoreline while staying warm in the sand. After a few days of beach going, country dancing, and amazing food, Mac gathered the courage to bring Marissa back to the beach at sunset to profess his love to her for the first time, and of course she enthusiastically returned the sentiment! One and a half years later, after many more adventures, including moving into our home together, we found ourselves standing on that very same beach, this time with Luna at our sides. Mac took one knee and felt like the luckiest man alive when Marissa agreed to marry him. Now we are so excited to invite all of you to add to our story and help us celebrate this wonderful occasion as we become united as Mr. and Mrs. Desenberg!
