Our Story

On February 25, 2018, Marissa and I both hesitantly agreed to blindly meet for the first time at Sundance Square in downtown Fort Worth. We spent hours talking and walking around downtown laughing and getting to know each other. She was BEAUTIFUL, very intelligent, well spoken, so comforting, and most of all it was obvious that she loved the Lord. This woman was someone very special and someone I thought I would never find. We didn't get food or coffee, literally just talked for hours! I left the night absolutely in love. I immediately called my mom and best friend to tell them that I was going to marry this girl. Marissa left thinking we would never see each other again... And so it began- the exciting, dramatic, devout, intentional, difficult, passionate, sassy, prayerful, fun, adventurous year that we will remember for the rest of our lives. It was a year centered around Christ, community, and love. We both have become very involved at our church, serving in multiple different ministries. We have found an amazing group of friends that love us and will always keep us on the right path. We have challenged and sharpened each other way more than we ever thought we needed. And we have decided that we want to spend the rest of our days together. Marissa is my best friend, partner in ministry, nutritionist, companion, and I am exhilerated to spend the rest of my life with her!

The Proposal

On Friday February 22nd, my roommates and I (all nurses) were off from work so we decided to have a “roomie” day. That afternoon we went to celebrate National Margarita day at Yucatan. On our way home later that evening, my roomate asked if we could stop by our church, Christ Chapel, so she could pick up her orchestra music. As we all walked into the church, I immediately knew what was about to happen as I saw Logan’s family from Oklahoma all lined up under the doorway. This was the day I’ve been waiting for with the man I’ve been praying for. I started to cry as I was embraced with hugs! As they walked me around the corner I was overwhelmed with even more emotions and tears as I saw my mom, dad, and my sister waiting there for me. It meant so much that they flew in from California and New York to be a part of this special day. They ushered me into the chapel where Logan was standing at the altar, waiting for me, with the biggest smile on his face. The room was dark but romantic with hundreds of candles lit down the aisle and all over the stage. Roses covered the altar floor and a big cross stood right behind us. There on the stage Logan got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. I couldn’t say yes quickly enough! We heard a big cheer from our families and friends from the balcony after Logan put the beautiful ring on my finger. After the proposal, what I thought was going to be a small dinner with our family and friends, turned into surprise number two. I was absolutely stunned when I saw about fifty of our friends and family from different states all in one place to celebrate Logan and I! Our wonderful friends hosted a dinner for us all on the patio at Bird Café in Sundance Square. From the patio you could see the table where Logan and I first met in the Square. That night will forever be a treasured gift. We are beyond grateful for our community and incredibly blessed to share our lives together!
