We’re getting Married and It's time to celebrate!

I decided to try out online dating. As I was going through the swipes, I noticed this guy with a cute dog. The dog was a chocolate lab just like mine and I thought, since he likes dogs he is probably going to be nice. Little did I know he thought the same thing about me. The next morning I woke up to a message from Fernando asking "How I was doing." I waited about a month before I actually went out with him. I'm so happy I did!

About a month and a half later, I finally decide to go out with him. We met at Niko’s steakhouse for dinner. My first thoughts were “Wow." He was wearing a yellow button down shirt (which I loved because my favorite color is yellow). We had a great dinner and I was enjoying his company. You know when you meet someone and you can just feel that “spark”. I knew right there that spark was lit! We decided to go out for drinks after dinner. We went to a bar down the street, Politics. Little did I know that as soon as we walked in. My PARENTS are sitting in the corner enjoying some drinks lol (poor Fernando). That was a lot of info to take in knowing he barely met me and now he meets my parents too lol. I thought “OMG, he is probably not going to call after this.” Well, what do you know? He called... and 2 1/2 years later.... HE PUT A RING on it!

Fernando decided we should go away for a couple of days. With both of us being so busy with work and learning about Covid 19, we thought it was time to disconnect from the world. One of my favorite places to visit is Fredericksburg, Tx. I love the winery, the food and just the vibes of the hill country. We rented this cute little place that was reserved for a couples getaway. We decided to hang out on main street, go swimming and check out the town. As we were visiting, it decided to RAIN with thunderstorms and flood warning. Fernando had made us dinner reservations at Crossroads Saloon and Steakhouse. I was worried we weren't going to be able to go because it was raining terrible. Fernando made sure for me not to worry about it and insisted I start to get dressed. Within the hour it had stopped and we were on the way to the restaurant. We had dinner and I noticed Fernando was acting nervous but I didn't know why. After dinner, he said "lets go for a walk to walk off our food" I said, "sure" and went about our walk. As we were walking I of course wanted to take cute pictures. We had seen this historic church prior to us going to dinner with a pretty back drop for pictures so we decided to go by there. As we walked up I remember thinking "WOW this is beautiful!" I tried to take a few pictures and of course the pictures I was taking I was not having it. LOL ( I know being a DIVA), Finally when it was going to our last picture, I put the timer on the phone and when I turned around, I saw the man of my dreams down on one knee asking for me to marry him. I was so in shock and surprised and without a doubt I said YES! Who knew you could love someone so much and still love them more and more every day. May 28th, 2020 will always be the day the love of my life asked for forever.

Once he popped the question, I was on cloud 9!! I couldn't wait to tell everyone, in fact I couldn't even sit still. I was so happy! I thought who would be the first person I call. Once we got back to our room, I said I need to call someone who could I call. I looked at Fernando and thought lets call Marcus (my brother). We waited for my brother to answer his phone and he doesn't answer. Finally he face times me, and I tell him I have exciting news to share with him. I bring my hand over the phone and show him my new bling! My brother is so excited and you can see the tears in his eyes (he won't admit it, but he got teary eyed) lol We tell my brother not to say anything until we get back the next day. That was definitely the hardest secret to keep. On the way home we decide to call Fernando's family, his sisters and brothers and his parents to tell them the exciting news! Everyone is so excited and welcomes me to the family! As we get home we act normal and wait for my dad to get home from work. Of course out of all days my dad has to work later then usual! It was so hard not telling them anything. Finally my brother gets to my parents house and he just keeps smiling! As we wait patiently, my dad finally shows up. He changes and gets ready to leave so we can all have dinner. As we were about to leave, Fernando tells my parents he has something to ask them. We look at each other and start to smile. I look over at my parents with confusion on their faces. Fernando says " I wanted to know if I can have your permission to Marry Marissa" with arms open wide my parents say YES! and start to give us both hugs! Tears of Joy start to come down my mom's face, and my dad is so happy he gives Fernando hug and tells him "FINALLY" lol we go to dinner at Nikos to celebrate! May 29th 2020, the day Fernando asked for Permission!
