Corey and Marissa had their first date over coffee and arcade games on Tuesday March 3rd, 2020 (this is where Marissa learned how competitive Corey is and where Corey learned how uncoordinated Marissa is ;). With Corey doing all of the talking, and Marissa's introverted one sentence replies, Corey thought he'd never see Marissa again due to her "lack of interest". Luckily for him, she said yes to going out again that same week. A few days later, Corona Virus hit the US and we got to know each other pretty well over the next few months of quarantine! Throughout their time spent together, it quickly became obvious that they were meant for one another.

After months of careful, secret, and detailed conversations between Corey and Marissa's family, a plot was written and plans were made to surprise Marissa. The idea was for Corey to propose to Marissa where their first date was at Optimist Hall in Charlotte, NC. It took a lot of convincing, but Marissa's mom (Mary-Beth) and sister-in-law (Emily) were able to have Marissa to get her nails done on a Sunday afternoon. After the freshening up the claws, they were to meet Corey, her brother (Greg), and Stepdad (Nick) for "lunch". Marissa was completely surprised when Corey led her around the building to a secluded staircase and hidden balcony where all of their family and friends were waiting for them. Corey proposed and Marissa said YES! (thankfully). Greg and Emily hosted an amazing after party for everyone. This was by far their favorite day together to date which would not have been possible without the help of great friends and family.
