We first met in sixth grade at North Clackamas Christian School. Through long track meets, cross country practices, and play rehearsals together, we found we had a lot in common. Henry soon fell for Marissa, after getting over his initial mixed feelings about no longer being the biggest reader in class. After years of one-sided pining and other-sided obliviousness, Marissa found she felt the same way. We confessed our feelings for each other the week before quarantine in 2020 and Henry asked Marissa out on March 14th.

On August 2nd, 2022, Henry took Marissa on a walk in Mary S. Young Park. While they listened to a playlist Henry had made for them, he surprised her with a picnic overlooking the river. They were going back and forth, joking about how bad Henry was at keeping things subtle, when the song he had written for her their first summer together came on, just as planned. While the song played, he proposed and she said yes! They were too excited to eat the whole rest of the picnic.
