We are very excited to have you in Peru! Below you will find some things to consider when you are around... If you need professional help booking travel, we recommend Jenny Salkeld of Prime Travel. jenny-salkeld@primetravel.com.pe.

Flight

Flying to Lima

Lima's airport is located in El Callao, approx. 45 minutes away from the city center. Once you exit the baggage claim area (but before you exit the airport), there are several taxi ticketing stands. We recommend you take a taxi from one of the companies below. They are safe and there is no need to book in advance. - TaxiDirecto: https://www.directoapp.pe/aeropuerto OR - Taxi Green: https://taxigreen.com.pe/tg/ We recommend you DO NOT walk outside the airport. It is not a safe part of the city.

Travel Note

Taxis

The best way to take taxis in Lima is to download and use the Cabify app. This is the equivalent app to "Uber" in other countries and works the same. Please DO NOT take taxis from the streets in Lima. They are NOT SAFE!

Travel Note

Travel near Lima:Paracas

If you have a few days to go outside of Lima but you don't want to jump into a plane, Paracas is a great destination. It is a natural reserve where you can find nice beaches, nature excursions and nice hotels to relax. We recommend going to La Hacienda Paracas, Hotel Paracas or the Hilton. Nearby you can also go to a few Pisco vineyards such as Queirolo or to the desert with an Oasis (Huacachina).

Travel in Peru

Cusco was the capital of the Inca Empire and probably the most well known city of Peru internationally. It has an amazing energy, a lot of history and great food. We think that you can get to know Cusco's highlights in 4 to 5 days. A few recommendations (but not the only things that you could do there): - Machu Picchu: If you are already in Cusco, you can not miss Machu Picchu, one of the new seven wonders of the world. To get there, we recommend you to stay in Aguas Calientes (a small village next to Machu Picchu) the night before, you will need to book a train to get there and we recommend booking Machu Picchu tickets in advance - Montaña de los Siete Colores: This is an amazing touristic attraction, but getting there is a big challenge... you will need to do an all-day hike at 5200 meters above sea level (at the peak) - Maras: Town 40 km from Cusco known by its salt pools - City center: Close to the city center you can visit a few Incan attractions: Sacsayhuaman, Ollantaytambo, Pisaq
