Our reception will be held at the historic L'Unione Italiana in Ybor City, Tampa’s iconic Cuban neighborhood known for its brick streets, cigar heritage, and vibrant restaurants and bars. During Ybor City’s cigar boom in the early 1900s, L’Unione Italiana was one of the most important gathering places in America. Underground tunnels beneath the district were built, and mob-era figures connected to Tampa’s gambling and bootlegging world, such as those tied to Santo Trafficante Sr., were known to frequent the neighborhood’s social clubs using the underground tunnels beneath the streets. Trafficante was a member of L'Unione Italiana, and is buried in L'Unione Italiana Cemetery, Ybor City.
