Our love story began with a blind date at a restaurant in White Bear Lake on July 28, 2014. Marisa: When I first met Troy, I remember thinking: This is going to be the man I marry. I knew within 5 minutes. Troy: When I first met Marisa, I remember thinking: Who is this one-of-a-kind girl? She is so funny! She continues to keep my life fun and exciting. Our chemistry was apparent to others as well. Our waitress was surprised to hear that this date was our first date and confessed that she thought we were a married couple! As the evening wore on, we were surprised to discover that we grew up just a couple of miles from each other; shared a few friends and acquaintances; were both involved in different facets of the health care industry; and, strangely enough, had mothers named Nancy (and fathers whose names began with a “G”: George and Greg). We felt an immediate connection and a sense of comfort in each other’s company. As our relationship evolved, it became clear that we shared similar goals, values, and dreams. We have enjoyed time with our families and friends, explored new destinations, supported each other’s sports teams (except during our family NCAA pool when all bets are off 😉), and loved each other completely. We were destined to continue our journey together. On a cool September morning, Troy and I took a hike in Taylors Falls, MN. I stopped on a bluff overlooking the St. Croix River to take a photo of the beautiful view. When I turned around to continue our hike on the trail, I was surprised to see Troy on one knee holding an engagement ring! Troy still jokes that the Wisconsin residents on the other side of the river heard my screams! 😊 To our families and friends . . . we invite you to share in our happiness as we begin the next chapter of our love story.
