How We Met

I met Miguel freshman year of high school in math class, in the beginning of the year, we would have short conversations or share a hello and smile as if we were just classmates. After Halloween Miguel started to show more interest in me just by glancing over at me more often. Eventually, it was the middle of the year and we started to text each other, that’s when I started to catch him looking at me more often and I would look away really fast out of shyness. It’s weird because we would be texting each other every day and then when we came to school and I would barely say anything to him. I guess you can say I was playing hard to get. Toward the end of freshmen year, our math teacher finally decided to move us to a table together. That’s when I would start to ask Miguel for his “help”, he would willingly give me his homework because he liked me. I slowly got to know the real Miguel, he was sweet, thoughtful, and innocent, all Miguel wanted to do was give me his love. Miguel would try to lift my spirits when I was down and do just about anything to make me happy. It was the beginning of May and I walked into my math class like any other day and there was a bouquet of roses on my desk. I immediately looked at Miguel knowing it was him and got shy. I moved them off of my desk pretty fast because I was going through so many emotions at that moment, I was feeling happy, nervous, and unsure. I probably hurt Miguel’s feelings at that moment, I didn’t know how to act, a boy had never given me flowers before. After school, I texted him and said thank you. Summer came around and we started dating on June 29, 2016. He will forever be my high school sweetheart. I love you Forever and Always Miguel.

The Journey To Becoming Parents

We found out on December 25, 2016, that I was pregnant. When we first found out Miguel and I were both scared and nervous, but I also felt a bit of excitement. The first trimester was hell, getting sick all the time, Miguel was always there for me, whether it was holding the bucket, hugging me, or reassuring me. The second trimester started to get a bit easier, I was able to focus a bit more on shopping for the new bundle of joy to come, I think that is when I developed my Target obsession... hehe. I am so blessed to have such an amazing partner, Miguel went to every doctor/ultrasound appointment with me, and the doctors were surprised that he made it to each appointment. After a few appointments, we started to get cute ultrasound pictures of Enzo. The third trimester was fun, we got to go on a few little trips together, and his family threw me an amazing baby shower. Then twelve days later baby Enzo was born.

The Day We Became Parents

It was August 16th at 11:00 pm when my water broke and I immediately called Miguel. We met Miguel at the hospital and we were one step closer to becoming parents. Once we got settled in Miguel sat in his chair doing homework and emailing his teachers that he wouldn’t be in tomorrow. He would check up on me every few minutes. He eventually ended up taking a nap for a few hours. At around 10 am on August 17th, I felt the need to push, so my mother tried to wake Miguel up by saying, “Miguel the baby’s coming” he woke up for a few seconds and then went back to sleep, my mom told him again and he finally woke up. It was 10:17 and I started to push. In between pushes Miguel and I would look at each other, laugh, and find the strength to push again. 10:27 am Enzo was here…so small, so fragile, and so handsome. I looked up at Miguel and he was looking at Enzo in disbelief as if he was dreaming. After a few minutes they swaddled Enzo, and Miguel finally got a chance to hold him and I could tell the second he held him it sunk in that he was the dad to this beautiful baby boy. Through those 9 months, I grew to love Miguel more every day!

The Proposal

For our 5th anniversary, Marisa and I decided to spend our beautiful/magical day at the happiest place on earth, Disneyland! We were so ecstatic to be going to Disney. Disney holds a special place in our hearts. So it was only fitting that we spend our special day at the place where we can leave our worries, frustration, doubts, and Enzo behind (JK). Throughout the drive to Disney, I was starting to have second thoughts about proposing. I was so worried if I asked Marisa the question, she would say no but come on it’s me. Of course, she would say yes. I’m a 6 on a bad day and an 8 on a good day. I’m a damn stud. When we arrived at Disney, we ended up making a big loop around the park before we decided to take pictures in front of the castle. At this moment my heart was pounding. We waited in line for our turn to take pictures. When it was finally time, I mustered up the courage to reach into my bag. Pull out the ring. Got on my knee and looked up at Marisa and asked, ”Will you marry me?” She had two expressions on her face. “Of course, I will” and “Took you long enough” When she said, “Yes!” I was so overwhelmed with joy. I held her close and tight in my arms and sighed in relief. At this moment, I felt as if the world stood at a standstill. It was just her and I embracing our love for each other, holding the moment. Now I can’t wait to marry you mi amor. I can’t wait to see you walk down the aisle in your gorgeous dress looking stunning. On this day everyone will see you how I see you.
