We met amidst the hustle and bustle of Starbucks, with the sounds of Frappuccinos whirring in the background. I thought he hated me at first (he swears he didn’t!), but as left-handed baristas, we quickly became an unstoppable team on bar. Our first date was over craft beers, and that’s when we realized just how much we had in common – from our childhoods to what really mattered to us. Who knew that a shared love of hops and espresso would lead us here?
After over seven years together, I still had no clue what was coming. We were on a 14-mile hike in the Kettle Moraine Forest (he made me work for that ring!), retracing the steps of a hike we had done on the exact day three years earlier. Right as we reached the scenic overlook, I went to grab our lunch, and he went to grab the ring. He popped the question with just the two of us there. Even the skies opening up during the last mile of our hike, drenching us in the rain, couldn't dampen our joy. It was perfect in every way.
