Bhavik and Marisa met at McMaster University when a mutual friend finally realized two students in the same program—just a year apart—had somehow never met. They bonded over finally meeting another Guju on campus, though Marisa quickly admitted her vocabulary stopped at “dhokla.” A deal was struck: Bhavik would teach her Gujarati phrases, and in return, Marisa promised to show him the best food spots in town. It turned out to be a pretty good trade - Bhavik delivered the lessons, she delivered the late-night shawarma, and somewhere between “kem cho?” and the last slice of pizza, they became inseparable. Rumour has it, though, that Bhavik wasn't the best teacher, as Marisa still can't hold a proper conversation in Gujarati. At least they got some good food out of the relationship!
