Our journey began in our freshman year at the University of Maryland. We kept running into each other on the same dorm floor, but it wasn’t until we both became part of the chemical engineering study group that we really got to know each other. Those late-night study sessions turned into our own little adventure, and before we knew it, we’d bonded over more than our shared STEM struggles. After graduation, life took us on separate paths—Oliver in Washington, D.C., while Marisa moved to Boston. Long-distance relationships can be tough, but for us, it was just an excuse to pack our weekends with travel and spontaneous adventures. We giggled with endless FaceTime calls, keeping the romance alive across the miles. When the pandemic hit, we knew it was time for a change. Oliver left Maryland for the first time for a new adventure with Marisa, and we started a new chapter together in the vibrant city of Somerville. Merging friend groups, exploring the city, and eventually settling into a cozy suburban apartment, we built a life full of love. In 2023, when Marisa faced cancer, our love only deepened, making us even more grateful for each moment together. From outdoor escapades to enjoying all the quirks of Boston, we’ve embraced every moment and slowed down together. And for the grand finale, Oliver popped the question during the solar eclipse in Burlington, VT—turning our journey from engineering classmates to starry-eyed fiancés into an unforgettable love story!
