We met the summer of 2006 at Sudwerk Restaurant and Brewery in Davis, CA. Sudwerk had $1 beers on Wednesdays geared towards college students. It was a frequent go-to spot for students, including us. LaToya had just graduated with her B.A. degree and her friends wanted to go to Sudwerk this one Wednesday night. The funny thing is that LaToya really didn't want to go, but was convinced by her friends. LaToya and her friends sat at a table next to Mario and his friends. LaToya remembers that Mario's table was so lively. He and his friends were singing, speaking loudly in Spanish, and having a blast. We started talking to each other and exchanged numbers. Ironically, neither of us were interested in the other romantically. We both just thought, "this would be a cool friend." We started to talk on the phone and hung out a few times over the summer as friends. After a few months, we started to look at each other differently. One day in the fall, LaToya said to Mario: "Are you going to ask me out already or what?" The rest is history... Nos conocimos el verano del 2006 en un restaurante y cervecería llamada Sudwerk en Davis, CA. Todos los miércoles Sudwerk tenía cervezas a dólar y era muy popular entre los estudiantes universitarios. LaToya apenas se había recibido con su licenciatura y sus amigos la habían invitado a salir a Sudwerk ese miércoles. LaToya no quería salir, pero sus amigos la convencieron. LaToya y sus amigos se sentaron en una mesa al lado de Mario. LaToya se recuerda que Mario y sus amigos estaban divirtiéndose muchísimo---estaban cantando y hablando fuerte. Empezamos a platicar y intercambiamos números telefónicos. Irónicamente, ninguno miraba al otro de una forma atractiva. Los dos pensamos, “esta persona sería una buena amistad.” Durante ese verano, hablamos por teléfono y salimos como amigos. Después de unos meses, nos empezamos a ver de diferente manera. Un día, LaToya le dijo a Mario, "¿cuando me vas a pedir que sea tu novia?" Lo resto es historia...
