The day we made it official...
We met at a company Gala in Phoenix Arizona on February 2020. A friend asked me if the seat next to me was taken and I said no. He then said Mario let me introduce you to Barbie. That night we talked about, life, family, careers and goals. Afterwards, we kept in touch as friends cheering each other on as we read books, achieved small victories and on life decisions. One week in April 2021 Barbie asked me if I would be in Florida around her birthday and Invited me to hang out with her and some friends and I did. Next morning we went for a beach run, bike ride and breakfast. Later that same night in the middle of club dancing and eating tacos at The Wharf in Fort Lauderdale I asked her to take a walk with me. We sat on a bench and discussed couples who do long distance and take risks sometimes at the appropriate times in life. The next day, we met for brunch and coffee. As the afternoon ended, we walked back to her hotel and as a true gentleman, I gave her a last hug and said goodbye for now. However, on the way out I stopped in my tracks and worked up the courage to "flip the script" on this story, just as a friend had mentioned. I then walked back into the hotel and asked Barbie to bring down a parking validation receipt from earlier that day (that's all I could think of) she walked down the stairs and handed me the receipt then asked me "is that all you need?", I said no, with my legs heavy, hands by my side and words close to vanishing, I said..."remember how we talked about taking risks last night, I'm about to take one"... and we kissed for the first time in Miami. Since then, we have been long distance 2,000 miles apart for almost two years, doing virtual date nights and making long distance work. We first became friends, decided to Date exclusively long distance, then an official couple at Disneyland, got engaged and now starting our own little family. I never knew what it would mean when we first met that night at the company event, taking that walk together and our first kiss... but I now know that it was magical and exactly what God wanted for us. And now, our story continues to evolve and we're honored to have you all be part of the next chapter of our life.
