We met at the start of our junior year at Grand Canyon University. Josh was roommates with a few of Marina's friends, so after a few game nights hosted at their apartment, Marina knew she needed to get to know Josh more. Marina would invite Josh over to her apartment to watch football, The Bachelor, and Criminal Minds. Josh got along great with Marina's roommates' boyfriends, so we would regularly spend evenings playing iMessage Uno and occasionally going out. Both were very dedicated to their studies, spending countless hours studying together. Josh and Marina never officially dated, but Marina always saw Josh as the type of guy she would want to marry, and Josh never forgot Marina. They each went their separate ways. Josh graduated from GCU in December 2020 and started his pursuit of Physical Therapy at Fresno State in August 2021. Marina graduated from GCU in April 2021 with her Mechanical Engineering degree and started her career in construction the following fall. Both went their separate ways in finding love. Josh maintained a long-term relationship that did not work out, while Marina went on countless dates, continuing to try and find the one. Three years after they had met, Josh shot his shot and reached out to Marina over Memorial Day weekend of 2023. He was going into his last year of physical therapy school and looking to spend his last rotation in Washington in the winter of 2024. After a couple of weeks of talking, Marina bought a plane ticket to visit Josh in Fresno. From that trip onward, Josh and Marina didn't spend a day not talking and took any opportunity they could to visit each other. Although long distance was not easy, they will always be grateful for the foundation it set for their relationship and communication. It didn't take long for them to realize they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. In February 2024, Josh moved to Washington for three months to complete his final rotation, and in May 2024, Josh graduated with his Doctorate in Physical Therapy and began practicing in Corvallis, Oregon. Josh popped the question on May 31, 2024, almost exactly a year after he had reached out. We are so grateful for the time spent apart that brought us together and can't wait to spend the rest of our lives together.
