We were set up to meet each other by our mutual friends, Kimi & Alex! Kimi is one of Marilee's close friends from college, and both Kimi and Alex worked with Tyler at Tesla. At first, Marilee was reluctant to meet Tyler because she was living in Santa Monica while he was up in the Bay Area. But the night of Lauren's (another one of Marilee's best friends) wedding, Kimi set things in motion with a Facetime to Tyler, virtually introducing us for a quick chat. Tyler asked Kimi for Marilee's number and began texting her - his quick wit and persistence secured a first date with Marilee a few months later when she traveled home to go on vacation with her family. The relationship developed pretty quickly after that first date with easy conversation, some long distance relationship growing pains, a ton of laughs, and what felt like millions of airline miles between us!

Tyler surprised Marilee big time with the proposal on a beautiful sunrise hike in one of their all-time favorite places! Under the guise of celebrating his birthday, Tyler suggested a hike in Point Reyes. Marilee happily agreed, but didn't get her hopes up for a proposal as she was almost certain Tyler hadn't been able to get a ring yet (you know, because of the pandemic and being together literally 24/7) ... turns out that he had! About 5 miles in, Marilee was ahead of Tyler admiring the cliffside views of Tomales Point. Tyler called her name, and she turned around to see him down on one knee holding the most beautiful ring. Tyler said the sweetest things; Marilee said yes... definitely the most memorable hike ever!

July 27, 2018 - Met (via Facetime) for the first time September 10, 2018 - First date October 27, 2018 - Officially became a couple September 6, 2019 - Marilee quit her job in LA and moved up to the Bay Area December 22, 2019 - Tyler moved into Marilee's apartment (which he picked out for her while she was still living in LA!) December 19, 2020 - Tyler asked Marilee to marry him!

As a sign of the times and for the safety and health of our loved ones, we've decided on an intimate ceremony with just the two of us. We definitely want to have a larger party to celebrate with all of our loved ones once we're able - planning for the summer of 2022! See "The Party" tab for more info.
