Mariko first met Tina and was instantly drawn to her warm smile and amazing personality. From bartending bar crawls at Tin Roof San Diego to countless Disney trips and adventures, their bond quickly became inseparable. Tina’s infectious energy, unwavering support, and endless sense of fun have made every adventure together unforgettable. She quickly connected just as deeply with her husband Chris, their dog Maverick, and their wonderful daughter Mila.

Mariko met Abbey during COVID as Taco’s better half, and they instantly connected over books, self-care, and a shared love of food. Abbey has been a constant pillar in our lives — always there to care for us when we're sick, watch over our dog Thunder, or make us laugh until we cry. Her kindness, loyalty, and ability to make every moment feel a little brighter have made her an irreplaceable part of our lives.
Katie Rapoza

Mariko and Katie share one of the best "when fate steps in" stories. During a shift at Tin Roof, Mariko met Katie and her friends at the bar before they headed to their Halloween plans. They instantly clicked — from great conversation to matching energy — and after offering them a ride home, it felt like destiny that they'd become friends. Mariko later encouraged Katie to join the Tin Roof team, and since then, they've shared countless service industry nights and unforgettable adventures (like Mexico City!).
Johnny "Taco" Corona

Mariko and Taco first met at Mar Vista High School through their NJROTC unit, where they instantly formed a sibling-like bond. From competition prep and unit fundraisers to festivals and camping adventures, there’s never a shortage of laughter (or a few happy tears) when they’re together. Taco quickly became the older brother Mariko always wanted — even when he’s busy annoying her.

Mila is Mariko’s goddaughter and the lovely daughter of Chris and Tina Szybinski. She adores all things Disney, loves to dance, and never hesitates to share exactly how she feels!
Ekolu Schucht

David met Ekolu back in sixth grade band at Jean Farb Middle School, where they quickly bonded over their shared love of music and being “band geeks.” From the very beginning, Ekolu has been someone David could count on loyal, steady, and always there. Over the years, they’ve kept each other grounded, growing together through every phase of life. Ekolu has become more than just a friend; he’s family—and David has been just as much a part of his.
Dave Farrell

David met Dave when starting a new job, and on that very first day, they butted heads. However, it didn’t take long for them to realize that their differences were really just reflections of shared strengths, and they quickly became a strong team. Over time, Dave has become like an older brother to David always offering support, encouragement, assisting with a never ending list of house projects and a good laugh along the way.

David met Brandon as a kid while Brandon’s mom babysat him. They quickly became close friends, spending countless days skateboarding around the neighborhood and finding new adventures together. Over the years, their friendship has only grown stronger. Today, they still share a love of sports, playing in fantasy football leagues, pre-gaming before Padres games, and making time to enjoy life with their friends and family.

David first met Frankie when he was more on the quiet side, but it didn’t take long for them to become close friends, spending countless days hanging out together. They shared a love of going out, meeting new people, and making memories. Some of David’s favorite moments include their adventures to Arizona to visit friends and family. Even though they now live miles apart, whenever they reconnect, it feels like no time has passed they pick up right where they left off.

Greyson is David (and Mariko's soon to be!) nephew who is a lover of all things Spiderman, trucks, and the outdoors. He is kind and creative and loves to make new friends!

Jason holds a special place in both Mariko’s and David’s hearts from growing up together to somehow finding their way back to working side by side, bringing the energy to Tin Roof with karaoke, trivia, and endless good vibes. With his rockstar presence and one-of-a-kind entertainer spirit, it only makes sense that he’s the one to officially bless our special day.
