Amidst the chaos of moving away from home, navigating campus, and functioning without supervision, Chuck and I met at the orientation night for our freshmen leadership organization - MSC ALOT. I noticed that he was tall and funny, so I naturally gravitated towards him. At the end of the night, I asked Chuck if he would be going to Midnight Yell with the rest of our 90 new friends. He said, "Are you asking me out on a date?". Mortified, I skipped the festivities and beelined for my dorm. We overcame that speedbump and became fast friends. The rest of our freshmen year was filled with our Aggie "firsts" and late nights studying on campus. My mom still remembers "the cute boy who would walk me home". - Marikit
I suggested a spontaneous trip home to Texas. After a few days with family in Austin (and secretly getting a few blessings), we drove down to my parents’ ranch for a “dinner party” at a local winery. We had a few hours before the party, which Kit spent talking to my mom, and I spent trying to act normal. That evening, my parents headed to the winery a bit early, which gave me a chance to take Kit for a walk down to the lake to “see the fish”. As we came to a quiet spot on the lake (which Dad and I had carefully chosen a few hours earlier), I got down on one knee and asked my best friend to marry me. Many laughs, many tears, and one very important “yes” later, we got to the winery, where we were surprised (well, she was surprised) by our friends and family! - Chuck
