We're Getting Married

It started like any ordinary shift-busy, a little chaotic, and filled with the usual rhythm of customers coming and going. I was behind the Starbucks counter inside Safeway, juggling drink orders and keeping everything running smoothly like I always did. As the Starbucks manager, I took pride in making sure everything was perfect-from espresso shots to the display case. Thats when he walked up. He wasnt just another customer. He carried himself differently-confident, focused. Walking-in giving Ice Cube vibes lol. I recognized him right away as the grocery manager, someone I'd seen in passing but never really talked to. That day, though, something shifted. He glanced at the case and asked about the cake pops. Simple enough. I told him which ones were fresh, maybe joked a little about which flavor was the best. It wasnt anything major-but somehow, it turned into more. A quick conversation become a longer one. Then laughter. Then that feeling you dont expect in the middle of a workday... like time slowed down just a little. From that moment on, we found reasons to cross paths. He'd stop by Starbucks more often- sometimes for coffee, sometimes "just because." I'd catch myself looking up whenever I heard his voice. What started over cake pops turned into real conversations-about life, goals, stress, dreams...everything.
