Welcome to San Francisco! We listed a few hotel suggestions in the Travel section, but some recommended neighborhoods are the Embarcadero, North Beach, Hayes Valley and Union Square. We advise avoiding the "Tenderloin" area. San Francisco is a pedestrian-friendly city with convenient trolley and metro train (BART) systems and, of course, easy access to Uber/Lyft. There’s so much to explore. From iconic landmarks like the Golden Gate Bridge to amazing restaurants and unique museums like SFMOMA, you’ll find plenty to keep you entertained. Take some time to enjoy the city—we’re sure you’ll love it as much as we do!
We decided to forgo the traditional wedding itinerary. Thursday is the big day! A simple wedding ceremony will take place at the breathtaking San Francisco City Hall, followed by a cocktail party later that evening. We are still figuring out the location and details to tailor to our guests, but there will be food, music and great company to enjoy!
Between the ceremony and the cocktail party, you’ll have some of time to explore. There are amazing restaurants nearby if you’re hungry, and you can always freshen up before the cocktail reception. We’ll have delicious small bites waiting for you at the party, so feel free to take your time, enjoy the area, and come ready to mingle!
A "destination wedding" wasn't exactly what we were planning. Getting married at San Fransisco City Hall has great sentimental value to Mariela, and believe it or not, it was the most economical of all of the options we considered. We know it's a big request to fly out to the West Coast to share this moment with us, so we kept our invites to our closest friends and immediate family.
While we will stay together after the wedding, we plan to spend a few days exploring the city after the big day. We'd love to share that with anyone who's sticking around. We will be leaving Sunday evening back to Miami.
