Things To Do

Here are some fun things to do & places to eat! For the foodies (like us!) Newport has incredible food (and not just seafood)!

Midtown Oyster Bar

345 Thames Street, Newport, RI 02840
, (401) 619-4100

Great for lunch or dinner! Amazing food and great oysters! One of our absolute favorite places!

Perro Salado

19 Charles Street, Newport, RI 02840
, (401) 619-4777

Some of the best Mexican food and margaritas you will have!

Downtown Newport

Thames Street, Newport, RI 02840

Downtown Newport and the wharves are located off Thames Street and are home to great food, bars, and tons of shopping! Don't miss out on walking through the charming streets and visiting the many unique shops and boutiques! Be sure to walk down the wharf where you will see beautiful views of the water and boats!

The Lawn at Castle Hill Inn

590 Ocean Drive, Newport, RI 02840
, (888) 466-1355

The Lawn @ Castle Hill Inn is one of our favorite Newport experiences. Grab a seat on an Adirondack chair and your cocktail or snack of choice and enjoy one of the most amazing views and sunsets in Newport! No reservation required! The Lawn also has restaurant dining available and we would recommend a reservation for that.

Glass Blowing

688 Thames Street, Newport, RI 02840

At the 688 Thames Street studio, you can make your own ornament, paperweight, or vase with lots of help from an experienced glassblower. A fun item to take home!

22 Bowens Wharf

22 Bowens Wharf, Newport, RI 02840

An awesome location right on historic Bowen's wharf, 22 Bowens is great for both steak and seafood lovers.

Scratch Kitchen & Catering

88 Broadway, Newport, RI 02840
, (401) 849-4782

Located on Broadway, a more eclectic trendy part of town, this is a great place for breakfast or lunch - the grilled sandwiches are delicious!

The Mooring Seafood Kitchen & Bar

1 Sayers Wharf, Newport, RI 02840
, (401) 846-2260

Located on the wharf in downtown Newport the Mooring is known for the seafood and waterfront dining.

Newport Mansions

424 Bellevue Avenue, Newport, RI 02840
, (401) 847-1000

There are many ornate and famous Gilded Age mansions worth exploring in Newport! We especially love The Breakers (famous for being the grand Vanderbilt home), Marble House (incredible detail and 500,000 cubic feet of marble), and Rosecliff (The Great Gatsby starring Robert Redford and Mia Farrow was filmed here)! You can purchase tickets on the Preservation Society website or on-site at any of the mansions to experience the beauty and architectural history!

Sailing Excursions

23 Bowens Wharf, Newport, RI 02840
, (401) 847-0000

Sailing is a huge part of this coastal city, which hosted America's Cup, a renowned annual regatta, for many years. Experience Newport, the Sailing Capital of the World, from the water on a sail aboard the Adirondack II, Eleanor, Madeleine, or many other sailing and cruising options! The crews are all amazing and provide a fun and relaxing sailing experience for all on board! We personally recommend enjoying a sail and local libation on the Schooner Adirondack II!

White Horse Tavern

26 Marlborough Street, Newport, RI 02840
, (401) 849-3600

America's Oldest Tavern!

Belle's Cafe

1 Washington Street, Newport, RI 02840
, (401) 619-5964

One of Newport's “best kept secrets”. With inside and outside dining, Belle's is the perfect spot to enjoy breakfast & lunch all day! While walk-ins are welcome, we recommend making a reservation!

Cliff Walk

Cliff Walk, Newport, RI 02840

One of the top attractions in Newport, the Cliff Walk is a 3.5-mile walk along the beautifully scenic shoreline. You can get off at any of the numerous exit points along the way. Some parts of the southern end of the trail are fairly rough, so for those who don't want to brave the rocks or do the entire 3.5-mile walk, we recommend starting at Memorial Blvd. (where the Cliff Walk technically starts), heading south, and getting off at Ruggles Avenue or Ledge Road (getting off at Ledge Road allows you to see Rosecliff and Marble House, but there are some unpaved rocky parts between Ruggles and Ledge). The last portion of the Cliff Walk, from Ledge Road to Bellevue Avenue, is the toughest to navigate. If you have limited time and for the best views, we recommend doing the walk from Narragansett Avenue (where the 40 steps are) to Ruggles Avenue or Marine Avenue. And be sure to wear appropriate shoes!

For all the days along the way
